This is a trip of a lifetime. Nothing beats getting away from the summertime heat than a visit to the mountains. Ouray Colorado is a fantastic little mountain getaway with things for the entire family to enjoy.
Our journey will start at the Raton Pass Motor Inn in Raton NM, before heading to Ouray, known as the "Switzerland of America" or Jeep capital of the world! We will be camping at the KOA in Ouray, so there are multiple accommodations available including sites for tents, trailers and RVs. You can also get a cabin, if that is what you like. They fill up fast so don't delay in getting your reservations.

Jamie and I have stayed at this beautiful place multiple times. The rooms are affordable and adorably vintage. It is a great spot to stay the night on our way to Ouray. There are a number of great New Mexican food restaurants and brew pubs to visit in town.
You can visit their website to book accommodations. We will be staying there on Monday, July 24, 2023. Room rates are very reasonable and range anywhere from $82 - $100. The place will fill up quickly so do not delay getting your reservations.
Raton Pass Motor Inn
This is a fantastic place to stay while exploring the area around Ouray. The camp site is clean, has multiple ways to stay including tent and trailer sites, along with cabins, yurts and RV spots. There is something for everyone.
The cool thing about this KOA is that they are located very close to town, and have their own on-site restuarant. It allows for easy trips into town to enjoy lunch or dinner and to visit the local brew pubs. The hot springs are right down the road along with some of the best off-road trails known to man. The location is perfect for this get-away.
They fill up very quickly so don't delay and book your sites or cabins today!
We are arriving on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 and departing on Monday, July 31, 2023. Please do not feel obligated to stay the entire time. We understand that everyone might not have that much time available. It would be great if you can stay on those dates as we have a lot of cool things planned.
Highlights of this awesome mountain adventure
For those of you that have never experienced this part of Colorado, you are in for a treat.
We will visit places like Ouray, Silverton and the famous Telluride Colorado. We will explore the mountains, spending a lot of time on some of the most recognized off-road trails in America. Engineer Pass, Imogene Pass, Last Dollar Road, Yankee Boy Basin and Red Mountain Mining just to name a few.
This is a vacation, so we will also enjoy the slower things in life as well. Hiking to Box Canyon Falls, enjoying the hot springs in Ouray, visiting the mining muesums or just chillin back at camp. You will not want to miss out on this adventure.
