A Pass kinda morning – Off to see friends.

I don’t know how many of you remember the movie “Ground Hog Day” but the premise is the person wakes up and does the dame thing every single day. I could really go for that. Waking up in cool temps in the beautiful state of Colorado with plans to ride all day with my soul mate sounds like a great way to spend the rest of my life.  We enjoyed a slow paced morning again starting out at our favorite place in Gunnison. The Bean is a fantastic place to start the day and the staff and coffee are very good. We spoke about the day and how this evening we would be spending some time with our friends Leonard and Liz. They have been on a 50+ day adventure on their Goldwing. We were excited to see them and hear about their journey.

Jamie and I headed out after breakfast to ride over Monarch Pass and make our way to Leadville Colorado. We left Gunnison with the temps in the mid 50’s. By the time we reached the summit at MP we were a chilly 41. It was overcast and looking like rain, but we knew once we were off the top it would be back to sunshine and warmer temps. This is one of my favorite passes. The road is good and the views are remarkable. We pulled in and there were a few bikes in the lot. We spoke to a couple of guys who was traveling from NY and Arizona. We talked about the C-14 as one of them was riding a red one. Motorcycle people for the most part are so friendly and of course we all love talking about our bikes. Jamie and I did the picture thing and just enjoyed the cool mountain air.

This time of year is road construction time in Colorado. We would get stopped from time to
