Jefferson Over Night Excursion

It had been a long time since we had been on a ride with our friend Charlie. He has been out of the motorcycle loop for a couple of years. we started to chat on facebook and we found out that his new bride (almost 1 year married) Lisa wanted to try riding. Jamie and I thought about it and we wanted to go someplace couple friendly but not to far away as this would be her first journey on the bike. We wanted to make it a good time for her. We decided that we would ride out to Jefferson Texas and stay at the Carriage House Bed & Breakfast. I found it online and they did accept one night stays. This is rare as most places want you to book for 2 nights minimum.

The plan was to leave the metroplex around 12PM. We were in no hurry and it was an easy 160 miles there. Jamie and I arrived at the Walmart in Terrell at 11:40 as we did not want to be late. in a small communication error Charlie & Lisa arrived just after 12. We were loaded up and ready to hit the road. The day was perfect. the temp was just right and all in all it was an awesome day for a ride.

We stopped at Edom and had a nice slice of pie at the Shed. Lisa seemed to like her first stretch of the ride. We could not have picked a better day. We took the rest of the afternoon and made our way across North East Texas. The roads were awesome and the trees and flowers were all in bloom. It was so green and beautiful.

We arrived to the Carriage House around 6PM. What a beautiful place. We checked in and our hosts were so warm and friendly. There were even freshly baked cookies in the room. That was a nice touch. Lisa had heard of a nice place to eat so we made reservations for 7:45. It would be a great way to top off a wonderful day of riding.

We ate dinner at the Stillwater Inn. The food was very good. It was nice spending time with Charlie and getting to know Lisa. I have to say that I usually don’t spend $60+ on dinner while on the bike, but it was good food and not something we do all of the time, so it was all good. I thought the Sonic routine might not be the best way to make a first impression. hehehe.

We woke up Sunday morning to the smell of fresh brewed coffee and we could hear the birds singing outside our window. Breakfast was to be served at 9AM. Jamie and I got our stuff together and loaded up the bike. Breakfast was very good. I would recommend the Carriage House.
