Sipapu here we come! Damn it is HOT!

I had been really looking forward to this road trip. It had been awhile since I had been on the bike and a trip like this was well overdue.

As most of you know, I work in retail for The Home Depot, so getting off at the correct times is sometimes difficult. This was one of those times. I could not leave on Wednesday until 1PM. Well guess what? it is HOT at 1PM in early September here in N Texas.

We did the fastest way possible to get to Lubbock without doing the interstate. it was a warm ride. I really appreciated the fact that David, Jackie and Leonard all hung around and rode with me.

We made a few stops but lets be realistic, there is not much scenic to see in certain parts of Texas. I did hear the following over the radio as we were someplace out in the middle of no where ….boiling under the intense heat.

Jackie: Hey Leonard what temperature  is your bike reading? Leonard: My bike says 105! Jackie: whew.. sure am glad I am riding my bike, mine only says 103.. haha

About 20 minutes later I hear this exchange; Leonard: Hey Jackie do you wanna know? Jackie: Sure! Leonard: 109!! Yikes

Yes it was a warm day for riding. We did get a break outside Muleshoe TX, as we saw the big rain clouds ahead. We rode right between two cells, getting only a few drops of rain, but the temps dropped 20 degrees in a hurry. Made for a nice last few miles into Lubbock.

We finished up the evening ordering pizza and watching NFL football in the lobby of the hotel. Not a bad way to start the trip.
