The trip has officially started!

We actually got to hit the road around 1:30pm. Courtney brought Jamie to the store so that we could just head out of town, without going back into town. It made a big difference, as we were out of town around 2:30. We had reservations in Amarillo, leaving this early would allow us to get into town, eat and get to bed at a decent time.

We had an uneventful drive to Amarillo. We got there at 7:30 and got us a bite to eat at Schlotzkys. We got to bed early. It was nice starting the trip this way.

On a side note – I have taken a bunch of grief for deciding to trailer the bike. I have to admit that I was not 100% on board with the trailer thing when Jamie brought it up. However she did have some very good points. We would be leaving after a day of working and returning in the heat of the day. It would be hot and after 8 days on the road, that AC in the truck might feel pretty damn good. It would also save a good 1200 miles on the bikes tires. This would come into play later in our trip. Jamie is pretty smart. I love my pillion.
